Volleyball Run Ends At OVC Tournament

Eastern Kentucky’s volleyball team won four straight matches to earn a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, but third seeded Morehead State University ended the Colonels season with a 3-1 victory Thursday night in a first round match-up in Jacksonville, Ala.

Set scores were 25-15, 25-18, 23-25 and 25-17.

Junior Lauren Snyder led EKU (10-19) with 10 kills and had 14 digs. Junior Autumn Harms contributed seven kills and three blocks.

Ellie Roberson posted a match-best 22 kills for the Eagles (20-10). Kaitlin Craven finished with 18 kills and 20 digs. Kristina Schoo had a match-high 34 digs.

Morehead State posted a .220 attack percentage and finished with 65 kills. Eastern hit just .099 and had only 36 kills. Blocks were even at seven apiece.

Trailing two sets to none and 23-22 in the third set, the Colonels scored three straight points to capture the third set 25-23, and extend the match to a fourth set. The fourth set remained close early and was tied 11-11 after an Eagle attack error. However, Morehead State used an 11-4 run to build a 22-15 lead.
