Volleyball's Road Trip Ends With Loss

Autumn Harms recorded 11 kills and two block assists.

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky’s volleyball team fell at Murray State, 3-0, on Saturday. In a match-up of teams looking for their first victory of the season, the Racers (1-10, 1-1 OVC) out-blocked the Colonels (0-11, 0-2 OVC) 9-3 and held a 46-31 advantage in kills.

Game scores were 25-23, 25-20 and 25-14.

For the second straight game, junior Autumn Harms led EKU in kills, finishing with 11. She made just three errors in 24 attacks for a .333 hitting percentage. Harms also had two block assists. #Abby O’Connor# contributed 12 digs.

Murray State was led by Becca Lamb with 12 kills. She recorded a .440 attack percentage after making only one error in 25 attempts. Logan Su finished with nine kills and five digs. Mary Cunningham posted eight kills and six block assists.

Eastern Kentucky never fully recovered after losing a close first set. The opening set saw 10 ties and five lead changes. Back-to-back kills by Lindsey Loescher gave EKU an 18-16 lead, but the Racers answered with a 6-1 run and go on top by three, 22-19. Eastern climbed back within one, 24-23, but a kill by Lamb ended the set in favor of the home team.

The Colonels will play their first home match of the season on Thursday when rival Morehead State visits McBrayer Arena. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
