RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s volleyball team will play its first home volleyball match of the 2009 season on Thursday when rival Morehead State visits McBrayer Arena. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The Colonels (0-11, 0-2 OVC) have been led this season by senior
Lindsey Loescher and junior newcomer
Lauren Snyder. Loescher has a team-best 93 kills. Snyder has 90 kills and leads the team with seven aces. Both players average more than a dig and a half per set.
Junior
Autumn Harms has played well over the last five matches. Over that span, Harms has 45 kills, one less than Loescher’s team-best 46, and a team-tying eight blocks.
Morehead State (9-4, 2-0 OVC) enters Thursday’s match having won two straight OVC matches and four of its last five overall.
Kaitlin Craven leads the Eagles with an average of 3.33 kills per set. She has a .219 attack percentage to go along with 16 service aces. Holly Evans is second on the team with 113 kills to go along with 44 blocks. Annie Gruenschlaeger leads the team with 65 blocks. Emma Keough has 46.
The Colonels and Eagles will be playing for the 93rd time. Morehead State holds a 49-43 advantage in the series. The first meeting between the two schools was in 1972. In 2008, MSU won both matches.
