RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team will look to tie a home court winning streak record Thursday night when Eastern Illinois visits McBrayer Arena. The game, presented by University Book and Supply (UBS), is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
UBS will be handing out
FREE t-shirts in both the men’s and women’s basketball games while supplies last.
The Colonels (11-6, 4-2 OVC) have won 16 straight home games dating back to December 2008. The winning streak is the ninth longest active streak in the nation. EKU’s longest home court winning streak in McBrayer Arena is 17 games which was accomplished on two occasions – 1987-88 and 1990-91.
Eastern Illinois (10-6, 4-2) had a three-game winning streak snapped Monday night at Murray State. The Panthers are one of just two OVC teams to hold the opposition to less than 40 percent shooting for the season. Junior guard Tyler Laser is the team’s top scoring threat (14.4 ppg) while senior center Ousmane Cisse paces the squad in rebounding (6.5 rpg). Forward James Hollowell was named OVC Freshman of the Week on Monday after posting a double-double (19 points, 12 rebounds) in the win over Tennessee Tech on Jan. 4.
Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series by a count of 15-11. The Colonels have won seven straight meetings against Eastern Illinois in McBrayer Arena.
Following the Eastern Illinois game, Eastern Kentucky continues its four game homestand Saturday night against Southeast Missouri. All kids ages 12-and-under will be admitted
