Colonels Head to Tennessee Tech in Search Of Elusive Road Win

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team concludes its road schedule Saturday afternoon at Tennessee Tech. Kick-off is set for 2:30 p.m. ET.

The Colonels (4-5, 3-2 OVC) will be aiming for their first road victory of the season. In fact, EKU has lost eight straight road games dating back to last year. Eastern has won two straight games and if the Colonels can manage to win their final two games, would finish the 2010 season with a winning record at 6-5.

The key to Saturday’s game could fall on the feet on quarterback #T.J. Pryor#. In three OVC home games, Pryor is averaging 78 rushing yards per game and has tallied six rushing touchdowns. In two OVC road games, Pryor is averaging 19 rushing yards per game and has scored just one rushing touchdown. Last week, Pryor finished with a season-high 18 carries for 77 rushing yards and one score. Pryor also threw for two touchdowns in the win over then undefeated Jacksonville State.

Tennessee Tech (4-5, 3-3) had a three-game winning streak snapped in a 44-13 loss to Murray State on Nov. 6. Playing for an injured Tre Lamb, Cass Barnes made his first start since 2007 and was 21-of-35 for a career-high 203 yards and a touchdown. Eight of those passes went to junior Tim Benford, who now has 137 career catches (just 20 out of the OVC career Top 10 list). However, Tech’s offense would lose three fumbles and be picked off once during the game.

Eastern Kentucky owns 49 all-time victories over Tennessee Tech, tied for the most in the school annals along with EKU’s 49 wins against Morehead State. TTU scored on its opening drive last year, but was then held scoreless and limited to 161 yards the rest of the game.
