RICHMOND, Ky. – Two of the top three teams in the OVC standings meet Wednesday night when the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball visits Morehead State. Tip time is set for 7 p.m.

Morehead State (18-8, 12-3 OVC) has had EKU’s (18-9, 10-5) number the last few years, winning five of the last six meetings between the rivals. Earlier this season, the Eagles’ defense held Eastern Kentucky to a season-low 53 points. Morehead State has been particularly tough to defeat on its home court in 2009-10. The Eagles are 6-0 in OVC home games this year, winning by an average of 16 points.

For EKU to have a chance to win Wednesday evening, the Colonels will need to rediscover their shooting touch. Over the last three games, Eastern Kentucky is shooting just 30.2 percent (19-of-63) from behind the arc. The team’s top three scorers, junior Justin Stommes, senior Josh Taylor and senior Papa Oppong, are actually pulling that average down by combining to hit only 8-of-30 (26.7 percent) three-pointers the previous three games.

Following the Morehead State game, Eastern Kentucky steps out of OVC action to host Winthrop as part of the ESPN BracketBusters series. These two teams last met in 2003 with the Eagles pulling out a 67-66 victory.

Storylines
--Junior Justin Stommes needs 12 more points to reach 900 for his collegiate career. Stommes is one of just two OVC players to be ranked among the top-10 league leaders in scoring (sixth – 14.7 ppg) and assists (sixth – 3.5 apg).

--Morehead State leads in the OVC in rebounding margin at +9.1 rpg while the Colonels rank last in the same category at -6.1. The Eagles outrebounded Eastern Kentucky by 15 boards in the first meeting.
