Colonels Conclude Regular Season Against Murray State

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team will celebrate Senior Day Saturday evening before the Colonels host OVC rival Murray State. The game, presented by Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center, will be televised locally by Wazoo Sports beginning at 7 p.m.

Eastern (20-10, 11-6 OVC) has won a program single-season record 15 games in McBrayer Arena this winter. The Colonels are shooting 49.8 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from three-point range at home. EKU needs to put together one more victory to clinch the No. 3 seed in the upcoming OVC tournament. A loss to Murray State could potentially drop the Colonels all the way down to the No. 5 seed.

Murray State (26-4, 16-1 OVC) had won 17 consecutive games until a 70-65 loss at Morehead State Thursday night. The Racers lead the OVC in just about every single major statistically category – scoring (78.2 ppg), scoring defense (61.0 ppg), field goal percentage (50.6) and field goal percentage defense (38.9). Six players average between nine and 11 points per game led by Danero Thomas (10.5 ppg).

Murray State leads the all-time series by a count of 92-61. The Racers have won the last three meetings by an average of five points including a buzzer-beating 62-60 victory in Murray on Dec. 3.

Following the Murray State game, Eastern Kentucky will play in the OVC tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday.
