EKU Returns Home to Take on Tennessee Tech

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team begins a two-game home stand Thursday evening in McBrayer Arena. The game, presented by Aramark, is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m.

Eastern Kentucky (15-8, 7-4 OVC) and Tennessee Tech (12-10, 6-5) are the top two three-point shooting teams in the OVC. TTU connects on 41.0 percent of its attempts from behind the arc while the Colonels average 40.4 percent three-point shooting. Junior Justin Stommes made five trifectas in the first meeting against the Golden Eagles.

Tennessee Tech enters Thursday’s contest as one of the hottest teams in the league. The Golden Eagles have won four straight games, including a 94-90 victory over Austin Peay on Jan. 21. Senior guard Frank Davis leads the OVC in three-pointers made per game (2.9) and ranks third in three-point shooting (46.7 percent). Sophomore Kevin Murphy paced TTU with 20 points and five rebounds in an 82-68 win over Southeast Missouri on Jan. 30.

A win over TTU would give Eastern the season sweep and a two game lead over the Golden Eagles in the race for a home court seed in the upcoming OVC tournament. EKU leads the all-time series by a count of 67-52. The Colonels have won four straight meetings over Tennessee Tech while averaging 82.5 ppg in those victories.

Following the Tennessee Tech game, Eastern Kentucky plays host to Jacksonville State on Saturday.
