RICHMOND, Ky. – Both Eastern Kentucky and host Chattanooga will be searching for their first win of the season Saturday when the two teams meet for the first time since 1987. Kick-off is slated for 6 p.m.
Eastern Kentucky hopes to avoid an 0-3 start for the first time since 2005. The Colonels have not won a non-conference road game since 2002, a span of 17 games. However, nine of the 17 losses have come at the hands of FBS teams. Sophomore QB #T.J. Pryor#, who sat out most of the second half of the Louisville game with a strained groin, is listed as probable for this week’s game. Pryor, the 2009 OVC Freshman of the Year, threw for a career-high 315 yards in week one at Missouri State.
Chattanooga could easily be 2-0 heading into Saturday’s contest. The Mocs held double-digit fourth quarter leads in each of their losses this season. They were ahead 35-14 early in the fourth quarter against No. 3 Appalachian State, before falling, 42-41. UTC also led 17-7 in the fourth at No. 5 Jacksonville State before falling to the Gamecocks, 24-17.
This is the eighth time since 2000 that Eastern has faced a Southern Conference opponent. The Colonels are 2-5 in those games including a 24-7 loss to Western Carolina one year ago.
Chattanooga is slated to visit Roy Kidd Stadium next fall.
