Volleyball Leads 2-0, But Falls To SEMO 3-2

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. –
Eastern Kentucky won the first two sets by margins of four and seven points, but couldn’t hold off a rally by Southeast Missouri State in a 3-2 Ohio Valley Conference loss on Friday night.

Set scores were 21-25, 18-25, 25-15, 29-27 and 15-10.

Freshman Ashley Edmond led the Colonels (2-10, 1-2 OVC) with 18 kills. She also had 10 digs and two total blocks. Hannah Groudle had seven kills and no errors for a .467 attack percentage. Abby O’Connor posted a match-best 33 digs.

Karlee Lursen posted a double-double for the Redhawks (3-6, 1-0 OVC), finishing with 20 kills and 16 digs. Emily Coon and Claire Keaton contributed 13 kills each for SEMO.

Eastern Kentucky out-hit Southeast .154 to .126, but the Redhawks held a 12-4 advantage in blocks.

The Colonels will conclude their two-match OVC road trip Saturday night at Eastern Illinois. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
