RICHMOND, Ky. – Following a convincing win over Eastern Illinois Thursday, the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team travels on to Southeast Missouri to face the Redhawks Saturday evening. Tip time is set for 5 p.m. ET.
Eastern (8-9, 3-4 OVC) has won five straight meetings over Southeast Missouri dating back to January 2008. A win over the Redhawks would move EKU’s record to 4-1 in 2011 and also even the Colonels’ OVC mark at 4-4.
Southeast Missouri (5-12, 4-3) opened the season by losing its first 10 games, but has since gone 5-2 overall which includes four OVC victories. The Redhawks are led by junior forward Leon Powell who ranks among the top five league players in scoring (15.0 ppg), rebounding (7.4 rpg) and field goal percentage (64.2 percent).
Following Saturday’s game, Eastern Kentucky heads north along the Mississippi River to face SIU Edwardsville on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
