Eastern Volleyball Falls At Tennessee-Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. –
Eastern Kentucky University’s volleyball team lost 3-0 at Tennessee-Martin on Saturday.  The Skyhawks won by scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-22.

Eastern (11-13, 6-7 OVC), looking to tie the match 1-1, led 22-20 in the second set before UT Martin (15-9, 10-4 OVC) went on a 5-1 run to end the set and take a 2-0 advantage.

UTM posted 46 kills with only 15 errors for a .221 attack percentage.  EKU hit .167 after finishing with 42 kills and 19 errors.  The Colonels had two more blocks but served up three fewer aces.

Ashley Edmond led Eastern with 12 kills to go along with 10 digs.  Kelsey Kuehner posted 11 kills and two blocks.  Hannah Burkle finished with nine kills and six blocks.

Kelly Hogan led the Skyhawks with 14 kills.  Brittany Wilburn added 11 kills and Kasey Elswick posted a match-best 23 digs.

After four straight road matches, the Colonels will play their next five at home beginning Friday against Southern Illinois Edwardsville.  The match at McBrayer Arena will begin at 7 p.m.
