MOREHEAD, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University fell behind 2-0, tried to rally but came up short in a 3-1 loss to Southeast Missouri State in the first round of the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament.

The Redhawks (14-18) won the first two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-20.  The Colonels (14-18) took the third set 25-22.  SEMO closed out the match with a 25-22 win in set number four.

Freshman Hannah Burkle returned to action and led EKU with 16 kills.  Sophomore Ashley Edmond added 10 kills and 13 digs.  Toni Michalski contributed a team-best six blocks.

Emily Coon posted 18 kills and six blocks for Southeast Missouri.  Brittney Kalinoski added 11 kills.

The Redhawks had 60 kills and a .227 attack percentage.  Eastern finished with 47 kills and a .124 hitting percentage.  The Colonels out-blocked Southeast 11-6, but had 10 fewer digs.
