RICHMOND, Ky. –
With two weekends remaining in the regular season, the Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team is tied for fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference standings.  The Colonels are one of seven teams separated by three games or less in the league standings.  Only five of those seven will qualify for the six-team OVC tournament.

EKU (13-14, 8-8 OVC) will close out the home portion of its 2011 schedule this weekend.  Murray State visits McBrayer Arena for a 6 p.m. match on Friday.  Southeast Missouri State will be the Colonels’ Senior Day opponent on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Murray State (8-19, 8-8 OVC) is tied with Eastern for fifth.  The Racers won the first meeting of the season 3-0 in Murray.  Southeast Missouri (11-15, 9-6 OVC) is directly in front of the Colonels and a half game out of a three-way tie for second place.  The Redhawks posted a 3-1 win over EKU earlier in the season in Cape Girardeau.

Eastern will close out the season the following weekend against Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State.  TTU is currently last in the OVC while the Gamecocks are just one game behind the Colonels.
