Gameday: Colonels Finally Open Home Schedule Saturday Evening

RICHMOND, Ky. – After eight straight games on the road to begin the season, the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team returns home to face Brescia University Saturday night in McBrayer Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The Colonels (3-5) have won 13 consecutive home openers dating back to the 1997-98 season. The December 3rd home opener is the latest for EKU since the 1981-82 season. Senior Jaron Jones is averaging a team-high 10.1 points per game and has scored at least 10 points in six straight games.

NAIA member Brescia (4-4) plays in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC). The Colonels last faced a team from the KIAC one year ago when Eastern defeated Alice Lloyd College in an exhibition game, 75-60. Bearcat forward Bryce Garrett averages almost 12 ppg and scored 14 points in a 74-65 loss to Fisk University Wednesday.

This will be the first of three consecutive home games for Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels also face North Carolina Central (Dec. 6) and Georgia Southern (Dec. 10) in the upcoming week.
