The Eastern Kentucky University football players volunteered at the annual Empty Bowls Project on Friday, March 25.  Empty Bowls is a project that helps to put food on the table for hungry people in Madison County.  The event was held at the First Baptist Church off the Eastern By-Pass where the Colonels served lunch and participants received a handmade pottery bowl, homemade soup, bread and drink after making a donation.

All proceeds from the event went to help feed local residents through four organizations: Food Bank of Kentucky River Foothills, God’s Outreach Community Food Bank, Home Meals Delivery, and the Salvation Army of Madison County.

The Colonels are currently in their official spring practice season which culminates with the annual spring game on Saturday, April 16 at 4 p.m. at Roy Kidd Stadium.  Don’t forget to reserve your season tickets for the 2011 season by calling the EKU Athletic Ticket Office at (859) 622-2122 today!
