RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University women’s soccer team will go on the road to face Wright State at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, and then return home to host Miami (Ohio) at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at EKU Soccer Field.

EKU's game at Wright State will be played at Athletes in Action in Xenia, Ohio. The address for the venue is: 1197 South Detroit Street, Xenia, Ohio.

EKU (0-2) – starting one junior, five sophomores and five freshmen – was 10 minutes from stunning in-state rival Kentucky in the Wildcats’ home opener on Tuesday night. The Colonels led, 1-0, in the 80th minute, but UK rallied for two goals in seven minutes to earn the come-from-behind win. Freshman Sydney Montgomery notched her first collegiate goal – a beautiful, 35-yard score – in the loss.

Junior Deja Tennon, sophomores #Emily D’Italia and Lauren Fant and freshman Paige Larkin# all went the distance on an EKU backline that was nearly flawless for 80 minutes against UK. Tennon and D’Italia have played all 90 minutes in both EKU games this season.

Sophomore #Lyndsay Vance and freshman Annie Wickett# have each started a game in goal this season as the Colonels try to replace graduated two-time All-OVC goalkeeper Stephanie Lynch.

Wright State (2-0) opened the season by defeating Ohio on the road, 1-0, and recently thrashed Canisius, 8-1, at home. Liz Soto and Jen Agueci lead the Raiders with two goals apiece, while Brittany Persaud has a goal and two assists. EKU is 0-2 all-time against Wright State, most recently falling to the Raiders, 3-0, in 2010.

Miami (2-0) opened the year with a pair of home wins, defeating IUPUI and two-time defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Morehead State, both by a score of 4-0. Katy Dolesh paces the RedHawk offense with three goals and an assist. Miami will face Xavier on Friday before making the drive to Richmond for Sunday’s matchup. EKU’s only previous meeting with Miami resulted in a 3-0 loss in Oxford in 2009.
