Volleyball Set For Week 2

TAMPA, Fla. –
Eastern Kentucky will travel to Tampa this weekend for four matches at the South Florida Invitational.  The Colonels started their season last weekend with one win in four matches in Pittsburgh.

On Friday, EKU will play Bowling Green State at 11 a.m., and South Florida at 7:30 p.m.  The Colonels are scheduled to face Bethune-Cookman at 5 p.m. on Saturday and close out the event against Maryland Eastern Shore at noon on Sunday. 

EKU Freshman Hannah Burkle led the Colonels with 17 kills and a .600 attack percentage in her first collegiate match, a victory over Howard.  She made only two errors in 25 attacks.  The Crystal Lake, Ill., native also contributed six total blocks.  Fellow freshman Abbey Cvelbar totaled 34 assists in her first collegiate appearance.

Four freshmen saw action during the first weekend of play.

Through the first four matches of the season, Burkle leads the team with an average of 2.33 kills per set and leads the squad with 0.67 blocks per set.  Cvelbar is contributing 7.53 assists per set and freshman Dena Ott leads the team with 3.93 digs per set.
