Colonels Can't Stop TSU Comeback, Fall 3-2

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky’s volleyball team won the first two sets, but Tennessee State rallied to win three straight to claim a 3-2 victory on Saturday at McBrayer Arena.

Set scores were 20-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16 and 15-12.

Shaquita Williams led all players with 24 kills for the Tigers (5-4, 1-1 OVC).  She had only four errors in 38 attacks for a .526 hitting percentage.  Danielle Howell and Terakka Walker each added 13 kills.

Sophomore Ashley Edmond led the Colonels (6-7, 1-1 OVC) with 21 kills and a .320 attack percentage.

TSU had eight more kills and one less error than Eastern.  The Tigers posted a team attack percentage of .252 compared to .183 for the Colonels.  Both teams had eight blocks while Tennessee State came up with six more digs.

The Colonels will play their first match of the season against rival Morehead State on Wednesday in Morehead.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
