Gameday: EKU Looks to Stay Unbeaten at Home Saturday versus Southeast Missouri

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team will try to keep its perfect home record intact Saturday when Southeast Missouri visits McBrayer Arena. All kids 12-and-under can get into the game for FREE as part of ‘Kids Day.’ Tip time is set for 7 p.m.

Eastern Kentucky (9-7, 3-1 OVC) is 5-0 at home this year while shooting 52.1 percent from the floor and averaging 77 points per game in McBrayer Arena. Senior guard Jaron Jones is averaging 21 points per game and shooting 69 percent from the floor on the home court. Meanwhile, fellow senior Jeff Allgood is connecting on 66.7 percent of his three-point attempts in McBrayer Arena.

Southeast Missouri (8-7, 3-0) is one of two remaining unbeaten teams in OVC action following a 73-71 win at UT Martin Thursday night. Forward Tyler Stone paced the Redhawks with 16 points and six boards in that win. SEMO leads the league in field goal percentage (48.8 percent) and assists (15.7 apg). Stone and fellow forward Leon Powell both rank among the top-10 OVC players in field goal percentage and rebounding.

The Colonels are 22-18 all-time against Southeast Missouri and 9-4 versus the Redhawks under head coach Jeff Neubauer. The Redhawks snapped a seven game losing streak to the Colonels with a 65-49 victory in the 2011 OVC tournament.

--Tickets are available by calling the EKU ticket office at 859-622-2122. The ticket box office will open at 3 p.m., one hour prior to the women’s contest. Arena doors will open at 3 p.m., as well.

Storylines
--Senior guard Joshua Jones needs nine more points to become the 31st EKU player to reach 1,000 career points. He is expected to make his 100th career start Saturday night versus Southeast Missouri.

--Freshman forward Eric Stutz became the first Colonel to reach double-figure rebounds this year when he pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds at Murray State on Jan. 4.
