RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team took down the Skyhawks of UT Martin in a dominant 3-0 match. Freshman,
Rachel Vick started out strong and led the Colonel’s with a .533 attack percentage.
EKU won by scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-10. The Colonels now have a 6-13 season record and are 3-6 in the OVC.
Dena Ott had 22 digs and
Ashley Edmond ended with 11 kills.
The Skyhawks fall to 8-15 on the season and 4-5 against conference teams. Emily Keaton led the way with seven kills and eight points while Amanda Crask dealt out 16 assists.
The Colonels went on an 8-0 run in the first set that changed a tie into a 13-5 lead. In the second set, a 9-3 run gave EKU a seven-point cushion. The third set brought a 10-2 run for Eastern Kentucky that turned a 4-3 game into 14-5 lead.
.The Colonels continue weekend action on Saturday against Southeast Missouri. The match at McBrayer Arena is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
