Colonel Volleyball Falls To Buffalo On First Day Of Shamrock Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. –
Eastern Kentucky University’s volleyball team opened the Shamrock Invitational with a 3-0 loss to Buffalo on Friday.  The Bulls won by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-21.

After Buffalo won the first set 25-17, the Colonels took a 21-20 lead late in the second on a kill by Alexis Plagens.  However, the Bulls won five of the next six points to take the set, 25-22, and a 2-0 lead.

Buffalo scored five of the first six points of the third set but couldn’t pull away.  Eastern tied the match at 13-13 and 14-14, and trailed by only three, 22-19, late in the set.

Kelsey Kuehner and Ashley Edmond led the Colonels (2-2) with 10 kills each.  Kuehner made just three errors for a .304 attack percentage and had two blocks.  Edmond added three blocks and 13 digs.

Megan Lipski and Liz Scott finished with 11 kills each for Buffalo (3-1).

EKU will play Alabama-Birmingham at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
