HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Eastern Kentucky University’s volleyball looks to continue its winning momentum against Marshall. EKU defeated Buffalo 3-2 on Saturday to halt a six match losing skid.
EKU will take on Marshall on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The Colonel’s (3-6) beat Buffalo 25-23, 25-18, 25-27, 18-25, and 15-12. EKU‘s five set victory included 19 tie scores, and 8 lead changes.
Alexis Plagens led Eastern Kentucky with 17 kills and a .375 attack percentage. She also added three blocks.
Kelsey Kuehner finished with 10 kills and three blocks.
Abbey Cvelbar posted 37 assists and Dena Ott had 22 digs.
The Colonels will look to continue this winning momentum against Marshall. EKU is being paced by
Ashley Edmond who averages 2.68 kills per set and 2.23 digs per set. She is currently ranked eighth in the OVC in kills per set. Freshman
Rachel Vick continues to impress, leading the Colonels in hitting percentage, and ranked fifth in the conference in hitting percentage at .318. Ott continues to pace EKU with 4.77 digs per set, ranking seventh in OVC standings.
Cvelbar continues to pace the team with 8.07 assists per set.
Marshall comes into this contest with a 7-4 record (4-0 at home). After winning their first three matches, Marshall dropped the next four. They won the next four matches defeating Morehead State, St. Francis (PA), Liberty, and Kent. The Thundering Herd is paced by Laura Der with 127 total kills (3.97 per set).
