RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky’s men’s basketball team will put its undefeated Ohio Valley Conference record on the line against rival Morehead State on Saturday at McBrayer Arena.
The game, sponsored by Pepsi, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The Colonels (13-3, 3-0 OVC) are looking for their first 4-0 start to OVC play since starting 5-0 in 1978-79. This is the second straight year, and the sixth time in the history of the conference, that Eastern has started 3-0 in the league.

Corey Walden is averaging 18 points, four rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 94 percent from the free throw line.
Two games after setting a new EKU career-high, junior newcomer
Tarius Johnson did it again on Wednesday at Murray State. He made 8-of-11 from the field for 17 points, four more than his previous best. He also had a game-high seven rebounds.
Over the last three games, Eastern Kentucky is shooting 88 percent from the free throw line. The Colonels are 46-of-52 at the charity stripe. Through the first 16 games of the season, Eastern has committed 101 fewer turnovers than its opponents and has out-scored its foes 343-202 off turnovers.
Morehead State enters Saturday’s game with an 8-9 record and a 2-1 mark in OVC play. The Eagles have won three of their last four. MSU started conference play with wins over SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois before falling in overtime at Austin Peay.
Morehead State is led by 6-foot-6 forward Milton Chavis. The senior is averaging a team-best 12.4 points to go along with 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals.
As a team, the Eagles score 72 points per game and allow 70. MSU has out-rebounded its opponents by 4.6 boards per contest. The Eagles lead the conference and rank seventh in the nation with an average of 10.6 steals per game.
Bakari Turner led MSU with 19 points off the bench at Austin Peay. He hit five three-pointers. Drew Kelly, a 6-foot-7 junior forward, had 16 points. The Eagles out-rebounded the Governors by 10, but gave up 11 three-pointers and were out-scored at the free throw line by 10. Morehead State committed 30 fouls compared to only 14 for Austin Peay.
Morehead State averages 25 personal fouls per game while their opponents average only 17. The Eagles have been out-scored at the free throw line by 116.
This will be the 179th meeting between the two programs. The Colonels hold a 104-74 advantage in the series and are 58-28 in games played in Richmond. The Eagles have won three straight in the series and three straight in Richmond.
