RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team will play its third Ohio Valley Conference match of the season this week. The Colonels will square-off against Morehead State University on Wednesday in Morehead, Ky. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. EST.

The Colonels (7-9, 1-1 OVC) look to stop junior middle blocker Laura McDermott and the Eagles of Morehead State (11-5, 2-0 OVC) Wednesday. MSU just won its 23rd consecutive regular season OVC match on Saturday.

McDermott led the Eagles against Tennessee State with a team high of 13 kills and hit .435. The Eagles are also led by redshirt senior, Aryn Bohannon, who leads the team in kills at 166. The Eagles won their previous match against Tennessee State, 3-0.

Eastern Kentucky will counter with junior Alexis Plagens and senior Ashley Edmond. The duo is tied for seventh in the OVC, both averaging 3.15 kills per set. Junior Dena Ott tied for a match-high 14 digs and Plagens recorded a match-best of 13 kills against Belmont in the Conference opener last weekend in Nashville. Ott is currently fifth in the OVC in digs, averaging 4.24 digs per set.

Following Wednesday's conference match, the Colonels will face conference opponent, Austin Peay State, on Oct. 5.
