RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team will host two key matches against Ohio Valley Conference opponents at McBrayer Arena this weekend.
Eastern Kentucky will face Tennessee Tech on Friday followed with a matchup with Jacksonville State on Saturday. Friday's match is set for 7 p.m. and Saturday's match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
The Colonels (9-12, 2-4 OVC) have won two straight matches, beating Eastern Illinois 3-0 at home last weekend and picking up a 3-1 road victory at Wright State on Tuesday.
Tennessee Tech (5-11, 1-5 OVC) comes to Richmond seeking its second OVC win of the season, after losing its most recent match to Belmont, 3-0.
The Golden Eagles are currently one game behind Eastern in the OVC East. Tennessee Tech ranks third in the OVC in blocks, averaging 1.92 per set. Sophomore Cody Dodd leads with Golden Eagles with a .277 hitting percentage.
On Saturday, the Colonels will face Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks dropped their most recent match against Tennessee State, 3-0.
Jacksonville State (11-10, 4-2 OVC) rank third in the OVC in hitting percentage (.195), opponent's hitting percentage (.183), and digs per set (16.83).
Junior Nicole Merget leads the Gamecocks in blocks per set (1.04) and hitting percentage (.291). Senior Kelly Cole ranks third in the OVC with 4.53 digs per set.
Eastern Kentucky will look to combat the weekend's opponents with the duo of senior

Alexis Plagens. Both Edmond and Plagens rank in the top ten in the OVC in kills per set.
