Volleyball Returns To Action At Thunder Invite

RICHMOND, Ky. —
After suffering its first losses of the 2013 season, the Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team will travel to Huntington, W.Va., Friday to play in the Thunder Invitational hosted by Marshall University.

The Colonels started the season 4-0 for the first time since 1995, but lost three consecutive matches last weekend.

EKU (4-3) will take on Kent State Friday, in the opening match of the three-team event. Kent State (1-5) suffered a 3-2 loss to William & Mary in its last match.

On Saturday, the Colonels will play Marshall for the second time this season. EKU won the first meeting 3-2, in the home opener for the Colonels. Marshall (2-7) lost its most recent match to East Tennessee State, 3-2.

In Saturday's second match, Eastern will face Southern Illinois. The Salukis (3-5) defeated St. Louis, 3-0, in their most recent match.

EKU is led by senior, pre-season All-OVC selection, Ashley Edmond. Edmond currently ranks fourth in the OVC in both kills and points. Edmond has tallied 98 kills and 108 points through seven matches this season.
