RICHMOND, Ky. — The Eastern Kentucky volleyball team will travel to Tucson this weekend to play in the Arizona Desert Classic hosted by the University of Arizona. The Colonels will play three matches over the weekend.

EKU earned its first home victory of the 2013 season on Monday, after defeating Marshall and improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1995.

Eastern will take on Utah Valley University (2-3) Friday in the first match of the three team tournament. The Wolverines have dropped their previous two matches, falling to No. 24 Wichita State and No. 25 BYU.

The Colonels will play two matches Saturday, taking on Arizona (2-1) at 4:30 p.m. Arizona is coming off a loss to No. 20 Kansas. EKU will also play Butler (4-0) on Saturday. Butler recently defeated defending OVC regular-season champion, Morehead State.

EKU has outscored its opponents 285-248 thus far and currently ranks first in the OVC in service aces. Senior, pre-season All-OVC selection, Ashley Edmond leads the Colonels with 65 kills. Edmond is fourth in the OVC in both kills and points.
