Gameweek: EKU Aims to Bounce Back Saturday Versus SEMO

RICHMOND, Ky. – It's Homecoming week at Eastern Kentucky University and the Colonel football team welcomes OVC foe Southeast Missouri to town on Saturday. Kick-off at Roy Kidd Stadium is set for 3 p.m.

The game can be seen for FREE on the OVC Digital Network.

Eastern Kentucky (6-1, 3-1 OVC) and Southeast Missouri (4-4, 2-2) are the two highest scoring teams in the league this year. The No. 18 Colonels have scored at least 30 points in five straight games and average 35.4 points per game. The Redhawks are right behind at 33.1 ppg. However, SEMO was held to a season-low 13 points last week against Eastern Illinois.

Junior RB Dy'Shawn Mobley continues to be an important piece to the EKU offense. Mobley leads the league in rushing (811 yards) and ranks sixth nationally in rushing yards per carry (7.0). The last time EKU's leading rusher averaged 7.0 ypc was 1991 (Markus Thomas).

On defense, the Colonels have been stout inside the red zone. Opposing teams have scored touchdowns just 10 times on 25 trips (40 percent) inside the 20-yard line. Senior DB Brandon Stanley recorded his 200th career tackle last week while senior LB Tyrelle Johnson needs one more tackle to reach 100 stops as a Colonel.

Southeast Missouri has already defeated two nationally ranked FCS teams this year – No. 3 Southeastern Louisiana and No. 20 Tennessee State. The Redhawks moved into the top-25 polls earlier this season before dropping their last two games. Quarterback Kyle Snyder ranks second in the league in total offense (255.1 ypg) and has tossed an OVC-best 14 touchdown passes. Linebacker Roper Garrett has tallied a conference-high 90 tackles in his sophomore campaign.

Homecoming Saturday also features the annual parade, which will begin at 10 a.m. The parade will head down Lancaster Ave., and through downtown before heading back towards campus. The tailgating lot in Alumni Coliseum will open shortly after 10 a.m. The Worn Cleat Club will have a tailgate area located in the northwest corner of the Alumni Coliseum parking lot.
