EKU Volleyball Host Two Matches During Fall Break

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team will play two conference matches this weekend. EKU will open Friday playing Southeast Missouri at 7 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. match Saturday against UT Martin.
 
Eastern fell to Murray Saturday in four. The Colonels' Celina Sanks had a match-high of 12 kills as well as senior Alexis Plagens leading with 15 digs throughout the match.  EKU is ranked second in hitting percentage at .209. The Colonels are 3-1 in conference play.
 
SEMO played Tennessee Tech on Friday resulting in a 3-0 win. The Redhawk's Andrea Baylin had 13 kills accompanied by 14 digs. Jade Mortimer had 11 digs. Freshman Nzingha Clarke is ranked third in the OVC in blocks with 51 and a 1.02 average per set. The Redhawk's are also ranked third overall in blocks with a 1.92 average per set. Southeast Missouri goes into the conference weekend 1-3.
 
The Colonels will take on the Skyhawk's this Saturday. UT Martin lost 3-2 to Jacksonville. UT Martin's Emily Keaton's 23 kills led the team along with 16 digs. Kenton is also third in the OVC in service aces, with 22. Madison Wessling had 17 kills and Chelsea Bowles with 17 digs.
 
UT Martin is ranked second in service aces, 1.43 per set. The Skyhawk's are also ranked fourth in kills and assists. Martin has a 1-3 conference record.
