Colonels Close 3-Game Home Stand Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky's men's basketball team will close out a season-opening three game home stand against the University of Cincinnati Clermont College on Saturday at McBrayer Arena.
 
The game will start at 7 p.m. The live radio broadcast is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com.  A live video broadcast is available on OVCDigitalNetwork.com.
 
The Colonels (2-0) are coming off an impressive 115-35 victory over Kentucky Christian.  Eastern jumped out to a 21-1 lead and never looked back.  The 80-point margin broke the previous school record of 73 set in 1990.  The 115 points were the most ever scored by a Jeff Neubauer coached team.
 
Seven players scored in double figures led by Jaylen Babb-Harrison's career-best 28 points.  He also had seven rebounds and two steals.  Denzel Richardson scored 18 points.  Timmy Knipp had 12 points and eight rebounds.
 
EKU finished with a 54-10 advantage in the paint.  Eastern totaled 20 steals and turned 36 Kentucky Christian turnovers into 56 points.
 
Clermont is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).  UCC is located in Batavia, Ohio, about 25 miles East of Cincinnati. 
 
The Cougars are 2-3 this season.  Clermont has wins over Ivy Tech-Richmond and the University of Ohio-Lancaster.  UCC is averaging 74 points per game and allowing 83.8 points.  Clermont has allowed 90 or more points twice.  No individual season stats are available for the Cougars. 
 
Freshman Phil Cook led Clermont with 21 points and 10 rebounds in an 87-83 loss to Taylor on Nov. 14.  Fellow freshman Tommy Hacker, a 6-foot-6 forward scored 18 points.  As a team, UCC shot 50 percent from the field, 50 percent (9-for-18) from three-point range and 87 percent (20-of-23) from the free throw line.
 
Through its first two games, EKU's opponents are averaging 34.5 turnovers per game.  Eastern has a turnover margin of +23 per game.
 
Through the first three halves of basketball this season, EKU shot 21.1 percent (8-for-38) from behind the three-point line.  In the second half of Tuesday's game against Kentucky Christian, Eastern made 81.3 percent (13-of-16) from deep.
