Colonels Split Matches On Final Day Of UIC Invite


Box Score vs. Western Illinois  //  Box Score vs. Buffalo

CHICAGO –
Eastern Kentucky beat Western Illinois, 3-0, before falling to Buffalo, 3-0, on the final day of the UIC Invitational hosted by Illinois-Chicago.
 
The Colonels beat Western Illinois by scores of 26-24, 25-23 and 25-20.  Buffalo won by scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-16.
 
Rachel Vick led Eastern with 11 kills against WIU.  She made just two errors in 19 attempts for a .474 attack percentage and had three blocks.  Abbey Cvelbar finished with a match-best 35 assists.
 
In a match decided by a total of nine points, the team statistics were very close.  EKU had two more kills (43-41) and three fewer errors (18-21).  Both teams had five aces, but Western Illinois committed four more service errors.  Eastern had four more digs, but also had four fewer blocks
 
Ann Miller contributed a match-best 16 kills for Western Illinois.
 
Vick led Eastern with 11 kills against Buffalo.  She made only two errors in that match and posted a .500 attack percentage.  Tahleia Bishop led Buffalo with a match-best 20 kills.
 
The Colonels will be back in action on Friday at the Carolina Classic presented by Courtyard Marriott.  EKU faces The Citadel at 1 p.m. and the host team South Carolina at 7 p.m.
