DAYTON, Ohio – Eastern Kentucky won its fourth straight volleyball match with 3-0 sweep of Wright State on the first day of the Flyer-Raider Invitational in Dayton.
The Colonels (5-1) beat WSU (2-3) by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-18.
Senior
Alexis Plagens led Eastern with 11 kills. Junior
Rachel Vick added nine kills and five blocks. She made only two errors in 17 attempts for a .412 attack percentage.
Abbey Cvelbar led all players with 28 assists and
Dena Ott finished with a match-best 14 digs.
Marisa Aiello finished with a match-high 12 kills for the Raiders.
Eastern Kentucky finished with 11 more kills (41-30) and nine fewer errors. The Colonels made just 14 errors in 111 attempts for a .243 attack percentage. WSU hit .064.
EKU continues play in the Flyer-Raider Invitational with two matches on Saturday. The Colonels will face IPFW at 11 a.m. and then take on No. 12 Nebraska at 3 p.m. The match against IPFW will be played at Wright State. The meeting with the ranked Cornhuskers will be played at the University of Dayton.
