RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU volleyball team looks to extend its Ohio Valley Conference winning streak as it travels to Tennessee State University and Belmont University this weekend.
The Colonels have won their past four OVC matches heading into the weekend.
EKU is hitting .224 over the four-game stretch while holding its opponents to a .132 average. The Colonels' precision has been critical as Eastern has racked up 25 service aces while allowing 11 from its opponents.
Celina Sanks and
Rachel Vick will lead the EKU offense this weekend. The duo logged 90 kills and hit .322 during the last four matches. Sanks ranks 10th in the OVC with a 2.81 kill-per-set average.
EKU defense has also been essential, tallying 29 blocks in their most recent wins.
Ciera Koons has recorded 13 blocks along with 12 from Vick and six blocks from Sanks in the past four OVC matches.
Eastern Kentucky will face-off against two of the OVC's most efficient attackers this weekend. Belmont's Arianna Person's 3.97 kills-per-set-average ranks third in the conference while Tennessee State's Chloe Watson ranks fourth (3.84 kills-per-set).
The Colonels defeated Tennessee State 3-2 earlier this season after falling to Belmont 3-0 at home.
