GULF SHORES, Ala. – Day two of The Sand Dollar Classic saw the Eastern Kentucky University softball team defeat Houston Baptist in the nightcap, 4-2, after falling to No. 3 Alabama in the afternoon game, 8-0.

Junior pitcher Hayley Flynn (1-0) tossed her fourth complete game of her career. The righty set a career high with 10 strikeouts while striking out the side in the fourth inning.

After giving up a run in the top of the first to the Huskies, EKU (2-1) responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good. Senior Katie Tackett evened the score with an RBI groundout and junior Sarah Fobbs capped the inning with a two-out RBI single to center field.

Tackett added an RBI single in the fourth after freshman Paige Murphy led off the frame with a double.

Flynn got out of trouble in the sixth inning when she limited Houston Baptist (0-2) to one run after the Huskies loaded the bases. Flynn finished the game with a pair of strikeouts in the seventh.

In game one against No. 3 Alabama (2-0), Crimson Tide pitcher Sydney Littlejohn struck out eight Colonels and held EKU without a hit. Alabama's Haylie McCleney went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.
