CHARLESTON, Ill. – Junior 
Doug Teegarden went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI in Eastern Kentucky's 9-5 loss at Eastern Illinois in the first game of an Ohio Valley Conference series. 
The Colonels (14-23, 7-11 OVC) battled back from a 3-1 deficit on 
Kyle Nowlin's RBI single in the third inning and back-to-back RBI singles in the fourth by Teegarden and 
Mandy Alvarez.  
EKU's 4-3 lead was short-lived as the Panthers answered with three in the bottom half of the fourth to take the lead for good.  Caleb Howell's two-run single through the right side put EIU in front 6-4. 
Eastern Kentucky's bottom three hitters in the order went a combined 6-for-13 with two runs and an RBI. 
Demetre Taylor led Eastern Illinois (8-28, 5-14 OVC) with a 4-for-5 performance.  He scored one and drove in two. 
The Colonels and Panthers are scheduled to continue their three-game series on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.
