RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU volleyball team will conclude its regular season this weekend with a pair of road games against Belmont University and Tennessee State University.
The Colonels (13-13, 8-6 OVC) have won five of their last six matches with the loss coming against defending Ohio Valley Conference regular season champ, Murray State University last weekend in Murray. EKU currently sits tied for fourth place in the OVC standings.
EKU split the earlier matches this season at McBrayer Arena. The Colonels knocked off Tennessee State, 3-0, and pushed the defending OVC tournament champions to five set, but came up short.
Junior
Nikki Drost continues to lead the Colonel's offensively, averaging 3.03 kills per set. On the defensive end,
Mallory Maxwell leads EKU and fourth in the conference with 4.65 digs-per-set. Junior
Ciera Koons is sixth in the conference in blocks and leads Eastern with 1.05-per-set.
Belmont (14-11, 8-6 OVC) is currently riding a two game win streak, defeating Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech last weekend. Arianna Person leads the Bruin offense, averaging 3.80 kills-per-set. Emma Price sits second in the conference in assists with 10.26-per-set.
Tennessee State (16-14, 7-7 OVC) has won its last four matches. The Tigers are fourth in the OVC in hitting percentage at .201. TSU is led by Chloe Watson, who is averaging 3.17 kills-per-set.
Friday's match against Belmont is scheduled for 7 p.m., while Saturdays match against Tennessee State is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first serve.
