MOREHEAD, Ky. –
After dropping the first two sets, the EKU volleyball team rallied to a 3-2 win over home standing Morehead State University in Wednesday's midweek Ohio Valley Conference match at Johnson Arena.

The Colonels won by scores of 18-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, and 15-12.

With the win, EKU has won its last five matches and its previous seven meetings against Morehead State dating back to the 2013 season.

EKU broke a 10-10 tie with back-to-back points, forcing a Morehead State timeout in the final set. The Eagles claimed the ensuing point, before a miscue on the serve from Jordan Jones widened the EKU back to two.

Junior Ciera Koons found an opening in the Eagle defense to give the Colonels a match-point opportunity. After an Eagle point, the Colonels held on to solidify the comeback and notch their fifth consecutive victory.

The Eagles jumped out in front 2-0, but the Colonels kept their cool working to take the first set following intermission, 25-21.

Freshman Rachel Woody's ace to open the fourth kept the momentum going for the Colonels as EKU built an eight-point lead. Junior Cassie Knutson's set clinching kill gave the Colonels a 25-21 win in the fourth to force the decisive fifth frame.

Knutson led the way for the Colonels with 12 kills, 14 assists, and three blocks on the night for her second double-double of the season. Knutson added nine digs in the win, finishing one shy of a triple-double. Koons added three kills to go with seven blocks for EKU.

The Colonels continue OVC play as they travel to Murray, Kentucky on Saturday to take on the Racers of Murray State University. Saturday's match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
