RICHMOND, Ky. – Senior
Jarelle Reischel's potential game-winning shot at the buzzer just missed as the Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball team fell to Tennessee State, 79-78, on Saturday afternoon at McBrayer Arena.

The Colonels (14-14, 5-8 OVC) took a 62-61 lead over TSU (18-7, 9-3 OVC) when freshman
Anthony Pratt Jr. knocked down a jumper with 8:04 remaining in the game; however, the Tigers responded with a 10-3 run and pulled ahead 71-65 following a pair of free throws by Demontez Loman with less than three minutes to play.

Eastern drew back to within one, 72-71, following consecutive triples from senior
Ja'Mill Powell and junior
Isaac McGlone, but the Tigers answered with three foul shots over the next minute to push their lead back to four.

Powell came to the rescue again for the Colonels, drawing a foul while shooting a three-pointer and sinking all three foul shots to make it 75-74 with 24 seconds on the clock.

TSU went ahead by three, 79-76, following a pair of free throws by Keron DeShields with 13 seconds remaining. On EKU's ensuing possession, sophomore
Paul Jackson missed a layup, but Reischel tipped in the offensive rebound to make it a one-point game with six ticks on the clock.

McGlone stole the inbounds pass and the Colonels were able to call a timeout and set up an inbounds play for Reischel; however, the senior's game-winning attempt with 1.9 seconds left just missed.

Powell led three Colonels in double-figures with a season-high 25 points, hitting on 6-of-11 from behind the three-point line. He missed his career-high by one point. Reischel finished with 13 points, while McGlone contributed 11 points.

Pratt Jr. made his first career start and responded with eight points and a career-high 10 rebounds.

Tajhere McCall paced the Tigers with 22 points.

EKU made 42 percent (13-of-31) of its three-point attempts, but shot just 40 percent (24-of-60) from the field for the game. The Colonels shot a season-high 89.5 percent (17-of-19) from the free throw line.

The Tigers hit on 48 percent (22-of-46) of their shots from the floor.

EKU will be back in action at home on Thursday against Belmont on ESPNU. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m.
