LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team fell at No. 2 Louisville, 14-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium.

The second-ranked Cardinals (4-0) jumped on the Colonels early, pushing across three runs in the bottom of the first inning, two in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the third.

After a two-run home run by Will Smith gave Louisville an 11-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth, EKU (1-3) got on the board in the top of the seventh when freshman
Dakota Graham picked up his first collegiate hit in his first collegiate at-bat, ripping a pinch-hit, RBI single up the middle to score junior
Shea Sullivan.

The Colonels added another run in the top of the eighth when senior
Kenny Hostrander walked and then scored on an RBI fielder's choice by fellow senior
Mandy Alvarez; however, that was all the Colonel offense was able to muster on the day.

Louisville plated two more runs in the home half of the eighth to seal the victory.

Senior left-hander
Luke McGee (0-1) started for EKU and received the loss, tossing two innings and allowing five runs on five hits.

Right-hander Kade McClure (1-0) pitched five scoreless frames to earn the win for the Cardinals.

Graham finished 2-for-2 with an RBI in his first appearance as a Colonel.

Louisville swept Ohio Valley Conference squad SIUE in a three-game series last weekend. The Cardinals have now outscored their opponents 57-7 on the young season.

EKU returns to action this weekend versus VCU, UNC Wilmington and South Dakota State at the Hughes Bros. Challenge in Wilmington, North Carolina.
