DAYTON, Ohio – Eastern's baseball team suffered a 5-2 loss at Dayton on Tuesday.
EKU (11-14) got on the board in the top of the seventh.
Daniel McFarland's bases loaded sacrifice fly made it a 4-1 game.
Cole Warrenfeltz scored on an error to cut the deficit in half.
The Flyers (6-17) took a 2-0 advantage in the bottom of the third on a bases loaded walk and a sacrifice fly. Dayton doubled its lead in the fourth on a two-run double by Glenn Jones.
Kyle Nowlin finished 2-for-4 with a walk for Eastern Kentucky.
Kenny Hostrander and Warrenfeltz each scored a run.
Robbie Doring had a 3-for-5 day and scored two runs for Dayton. Jones finished 3-for-4 with a run, a walk and three RBIs. Starter Mason Kutruff (1-3) allowed just five hits and two unearned runs while pitching seven innings.
Eastern Kentucky will play host to in-state rival Morehead State for a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday is slated for 1 p.m.
