Kyle Nowlin and
Doug Teegarden recorded two hits each but EKU fell 8-6 to Murray State on Friday at Turkey Hughes Field.
Saturday's game two of the series has been moved to 5 p.m. ET. Senior Day activities will begin at 4:40 p.m.
EKU jumped out on top early with two runs in the first, including a lead-off home run by
Cole Warrenfeltz. It was his fourth of the season. Jack Hranec put the Racers on top with one swing of the bat in the top of the second. He hit a three-run home run over the wall in right center.
Doug Teegarden's two-out, two run single to left field in the fourth turned a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 EKU lead. Murray State tied it with a run in the fifth and then took a 7-5 lead on a Ramsey Scott two-run home run over the wall in center field.
Nowlin was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Teegarden went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Alvarez, the nation's leader in hits, had two hits in five at bats.
Scott finished 2-for-5 with a run and three RBIs. Hranec had three hits in five at bats, scored a run and drove in three. Kipp Moore went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
