Game 1 Box Score  |  Game 2 Box Score

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. –
Senior Kyle Nowlin tied Eastern's program record of 20 home runs in a season, but the Colonels were swept in an Ohio Valley Conference baseball doubleheader at Tennessee Tech on Thursday.

TTU won by scores of 7-6 and 7-4.

In game one, Nowlin led off the fourth inning with a solo home run that hit off the foul pole down the left field line.  It tied Lee Chapman (1999) and Clay Elswick (1986) for the most-ever in a season in EKU history.

Eastern Kentucky hit four home runs in that game.  Mandy Alvarez broke a 4-4 tie with a two-run home run in the seventh inning.  Tennessee Tech closed the gap to one in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run from Kevin Strohschein.

TTU tied it in the ninth when Connor Goodspeed scored on a passed ball and won it on Jake Farr's one-out RBI single to left center.

Doug Teegarden also hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to put Eastern on top 3-2.  Ben Fisher's solo home run in the sixth gave the visitors a 4-2 advantage.

Alvarez finished game one 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.  Nowlin went 3-for-5, including two doubles, scored a run and drove in two.

Eastern jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game two when a pair of ground balls scored Teegarden and Fisher in the second inning.  The Golden Eagles hung four on the scoreboard in the third.

Teegarden's two-run single in the fifth tied the score 4-4.  Tech scored one in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to pull in front by three.

Teegarden went 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs in game two.

The two teams will not play on Friday due to poor weather conditions.  The series will conclude with game three on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
