RICHMOND, Ky. — The EKU volleyball team will look to pick up another Ohio Valley Conference victory on Saturday as it hosts Austin Peay State University.
The Colonels rolled to a straight-set win over Morehead State in Wednesday's home opener. Freshman

EKU (6-9, 1-2 OVC) relies heavily on juniors

Ciera Koons, and
Mallory Maxwell. Sanks leads the Colonels' offense and ranks eighth in the league, averaging 3.18 kills-per-set. Meanwhile, Koons and Maxwell provide primarily on the defensive side. Maxwell is third in the OVC with 4.80 digs-per-set. Koons, however, is one of the most accurate in the league, hitting .270 and has racked up 43 blocks this season.
APSU (11-7, 2-1 OVC) fell at Murray State on Tuesday, ending a six-match win streak. The Governors opened OVC play with wins over Southeast Missouri State and the University of Tennessee at Martin last weekend.
Junior Ashley Slay and sophomore Kaylee Taff pilot the APSU offense. The Governors are tied for the highest hitting percentage in the conference with a .290 average entering Saturday's contest.
The Governors also average 1.27 services aces per set, ranking third in the OVC.
EKU leads the all-time series over APSU 41-23. Through the last eight matches, the home team has won seven meetings. EKU's 3-1 win in Clarksville on Oct. 16, 2010 marks the lone win for a visiting team through the eight game stretch.
Saturday's match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
