Colonels Welcome TSU to McBrayer Arena Thursday Night

Thursday's game is Military Appreciation Night at McBrayer Arena! All current and past military members may receive one FREE ticket to the game, while their guest may receive unlimited $5 tickets at the ticket window. Call the EKU Ticket Office at (859) 622-2122 for more information. 

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's basketball team will host OVC East rival Tennessee State on Thursday night at McBrayer Arena. Tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

- EKU (8-10, 1-2 OVC) split a pair of home OVC games last week. The Colonels rolled past SIUE, 78-61, on Thursday night, before falling to Eastern Illinois, 74-60, on Saturday afternoon.
 
- Asante Gist was voted OVC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time on Monday. The point guard from East Orange, New Jersey averaged 22.5 points-per-game and 4.5 assists-per-game last week.
 
- Gist ranks in the top-10 in the OVC in scoring (10th / 14.8 points-per-game) and assists (eighth / 4.0 assists-per-game). He leads all freshmen in the league in both categories.
 
- Freshman DeAndre Dishman recorded career-highs in rebounds (nine) and steals (two) versus Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
 
- Sophomore Nick Mayo has scored in double figures every game this season. He leads EKU and ranks fifth in the OVC in scoring (17.5 points-per-game). He also ranks 41st on EKU's all-time scoring list (765 points) ... just 49 games into his career.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
 
- Tennessee State (11-5, 2-1 OVC) won both of its conference games last week, defeating Southeast Missouri, 65-62, on Thursday before beating UT Martin, 76-65, on Saturday in Nashville.
 
- Senior guard Tahjere McCall was voted the OVC Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 23 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals-per-game in the two wins.
 
- McCall leads TSU in scoring this season at 14.3 points-per-game.
 
- This is the 59th all-time meeting between EKU and Tennessee State.  EKU leads the series, 33-25. The Colonels have won five of their last six games over the Tigers.
 
- EKU has won seven of its last eight over Tennessee State at McBrayer Arena. The Colonels' lone loss during that span was the most recent - Feb. 13, 2016. A 79-78 heartbreaker.
