EKU Volleyball Set To Open Final Road Swing Of The Season

RICHMOND, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team hits the road this weekend to open its final road swing of the regular-season at Jacksonville State on Friday and at Tennessee Tech on Saturday.
 
Friday's contest is set for 8 p.m. while first serve on Saturday will be at 6:30 p.m.
 
Live statistics will be available for each match and live video will be available via the OVC Digital Network for Friday's match.
 
HERE'S THE SKINNY:
 
-Eastern (11-15, 9-3 OVC) has won four matches in a row coming into the weekend, most recently beating Tennessee State and Belmont, each in four, in Richmond.
 
-Libero Chloe Rojas was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after another clutch weekend. The junior led all players in both games this weekend in digs, racking up 19 digs against the Bruins and 28 against TSU. Rojas continues to lead all players in league-only actions in digs and is fourth overall.  
 
-Cassie Knutson received a nod from VolleyMob for the second consecutive week after her weekend that featured two triple-doubles. The San Diego, California native continues to show her versatility on the court, notching 21 kills, 41 assists and 20 digs.
 
-The Colonels are holding opponents to a mere .140 hitting percentage, the second-best in the league during OVC action.
 
-Mallory Maxwell has taken over the No. 10 spot in the EKU record book in career digs (1,224) while Celina Sanks takes over at No. 7 in career total attacks (3,797).  
 
-In league-only play Sanks is fifth in kills (164) and points (192.0) while Nikki Drost is sixth in kills (95) eighth in points (108.0). Kaylin Johnson is fifth in blocks with 53.0.
 
-EKU returns all letterwinners from last season.
 
-Drost and Rachel Woody were both named All-OVC Preseason Selections going into the season.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS:
 
JACKSONVILLE STATE
-JSU (20-11, 6-6 OVC) won both matches last weekend at home, topping Tennessee Tech in three and UT Martin in four.
 
-The Gamecocks feature four athletes who are top-10 in the conference in their respective categories: Mackenzie Rombach is sixth in the league in hitting percentage (.303), Allyson Zuhlke is fourth in kills (403) and fourth in points, Jennifer Hart is fourth in assists (948) and Hannah Kirk is eighth in digs (478).
 
-Jacksonville State is currently sixth in the conference standings.
 
 
TENNESSEE TECH
-The Golden Eagles (3-21, 1-11 OVC) have not won a match since September 30 when they took down Morehead State on its home court.
 
-Shealene Little leads TTU in kills with 238 while posting a .171 hitting efficiency.
 
-Rachel Thomas is pacing all blockers for Tech with 62 on the year.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
-EKU will wrap up road conference play at Morehead State on Tuesday, November 7. First serve is set to go up at 6 p.m.
