Box Score

OXFORD, Ala.
 – The No. 6 seed Eastern Kentucky University softball team continued rolling at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Friday, as the Colonels upset No. 4 Eastern Illinois, 5-0, at Choccolocco Park.

EKU (27-30) will advance to play the winner of No. 2 UT Martin/No. 8 Belmont later today. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, but with severe weather in the area, that start time could be pushed back.

Freshman Mollie Paulick and senior Alex Sallberg combined to shutout the favored Panthers (28-21) from the circle. Sallberg (10-15) tossed the final four scoreless innings in relief and surrendered only three hits to earn the win.

The Colonels got on the board in the top of the second inning when senior Krislyn Campos drew a bases-loaded walk to score junior Paige Murphy.

With Paulick and Sallberg dealing from the circle, it remained a one-run game until the top of the sixth when senior Kelly Wood delivered a clutch, bases-clearing double into the gap in right center, plating Murphy, senior Amber Murray and sophomore Brooke Harrison. Wood then scored on a sacrifice fly by Campos to blow the game wide open.

Murphy finished the game 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.
