RICHMOND, Ky. –
The Eastern Kentucky University softball team has won nine in a row after winning games against Saint Louis and Akron Saturday afternoon on day two of the EKU Invitational.

The Colonels (15-5) squared off against SLU first. Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when Eastern Kentucky put up a seven-spot to run away with the game.

Destinee Lizzmore and Paige Murphy both drew walks to open the frame. After a sacrifice bunt from Johnkyria Alston to advance the runners Hannah Clark roped a single through the middle to push Lizzmore across. Murphy crossed the plate on an error, putting EKU up 2-0.

Freshman Zoe Mihalicz collected a double and Emily Corbitt walked, loading the bases for Carly Robinson.

The first baseman hit her second grand slam of the weekend to give the Colonels a 6-0 advantage.

Samantha Reynoso notched her first collegiate hit and Clark brought her home, putting the Billikens in a 7-0 hole.

Saint Louis (8-9) brought two across in the top of the seventh, but it wasn't enough as EKU rolled to a 7-2 victory.

Reynoso got the win in game one after tossing four innings and giving up just two hits.

Akron (1-14-1) struck first in game one, pushing one across on a single, 1-0.

Lizzmore and Murphy got on to start the bottom stanza. After an Alston single and Zips error the Colonels took a 2-1 lead.

Clark homered to right center to clean the bases, 4-1.

Eastern Kentucky tacked on in the bottom of the second. Murphy doubled and Clark notched her second home run of the game in as many at-bats to tie the single-game program record, 6-1.

Akron outscored EKU 3-1 over the next two innings to draw within four, 7-3.

The potent Colonel batting order added six more in the bottom of the fifth, topped off with a three-run shot from Alston, to end the game on run-rule, 13-4.

Paulick notched the win in the circle, moving to 5-1 on the year.

Clark, Murphy and Corbitt each hit .600 on the day while Lizzmore and Robinson hit .500.
