Colonels Fall To No. 19 Tennessee Tech In OVC Baseball Series Opener

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky hit three home runs, but lost, 12-6, at No. 19 Tennessee Tech in the opening game of an Ohio Valley Conference series on Friday.
 
Ryland Kerr (5), Will Johnson (7) and Tyler Romanik (7) all hit solo home runs.
 
The Golden Eagles broke free from a scoreless tie with five runs in the bottom of the second inning.  Tech (42-6, 23-2 OVC) led the rest of the way.  The solo dingers by the three Colonels came in the third, fifth and sixth innings, but after putting up a four-spot in the bottom of the sixth TTU led 11-3.
 
Logan Stephens had a two-run double in the three-run ninth inning that allowed Eastern Kentucky (26-24, 15-10 OVC) to set the final score.
 
Kerr and Johnson both finished with two hits each.
 
Game two of the series with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
