COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky overcame a 3-run deficit to tie the game 5-5 in the sixth inning, but couldn't overtake No. 19 Tennessee Tech in an 8-5 loss in the series finale on Sunday.

With EKU down 5-2,
Ryland Kerr led off the top of the sixth inning with a solo home run over the wall in right center.Â
Daniel McFarland followed with a double to center. Three batters later, and with two outs in the inning,
Tyler Romanik kept the rally alive with an RBI double down the right field line.Â
Daniel Harris IV followed with a run scoring double of his own to tie the score 5-5.

David Garza cranked a solo home run in the bottom half of the sixth to put the Golden Eagles (44-6, 25-2 OVC) back on top, 6-5.

Romanik and Harris reached to start the top of the ninth inning to bring the tying run to the plate with no outs, but the Colonels came up short.

The first three batters in the Eastern Kentucky (26-26, 15-12 OVC) line-up finished with two hits each. Kerr was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. McFarland had a 2-for-4 day with a run scored.Â
Nick Howie hit a home run and finished 2-for-3 with a run and two driven in. Romanik had two hits in three at bats, a walk, scored a run and drove in one.

Brennon Kaleiwahea was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI for Tech. Chase Chambers finished 1-for-4 with a run and three RBIs.

The Colonels will close out the regular season with four home games this coming week. Eastern will host Western Carolina on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
